Over the last couple of months, Simon Overend has been completing a challenge which has been set up for Walk For Autism and I wanted to share with you how he did.
This will be the 5th year of taking part in the Walk for Autism challenge. I'm doing it as its something close to my heart, a way to get exercise, raise awareness of Autism and to raise money for a good cause. Hopefully this year I will be joined by my mum and some of my friends.
Today (9th February) I am starting my Walk for Autism challenge. I'm doing it a bit differently this year as I'm doing one walk a week of 10'000 + steps for 8 weeks to spread out my challenge so that it finishes on the 2nd of April which is Autism awareness day ππππ
I will be doing my first walk with a friend which will be nice and it's a good way to raise awareness of Autism and a good form of exercise πΆββοΈ
Enjoyed a nice walk with a friend on day one of my Walk for Autism challenge. We walked around our local lakes, feeding the ducks with duck food and taking in the scenery while we walked. It was nice to be out in nature doing a bit of mindfulness on the way. We finished our walk with a trip to Starbucks for a nice drink.
Yesterday I was joined by my mum on my walk. We walked around our local fields, taking in the scenery, watching the wildlife and then we walked along an old railway line which is now a footpath which has old wooden railway sleepers that are now benches to sit on.
Today I enjoyed a nice walk around the town where I live while the sun was out πIt was nice and relaxing during my walk, being able to forget and unwind while getting my steps inπΆββοΈππ.
Today I was joined by a friend on my walk. We walked through my local town, stopping off at a vintage toy fair before continuing our walk. We then went for a nice hot chocolate.
It was nice to be able to make the most of the nice sunny weather while getting a bit of exercise as well.
Yesterday I enjoyed a nice walk with my mum as part of my walk for Autism challenge. It was nice to be out walking, taking in the scenery while doing a bit of mindfulness as we walked. It's nice to be able to get a walk in when the sun is out π
Yesterday I enjoyed a nice walk around the town where I live. It was nice to be out walking while getting my steps in, as well as a bit of exercise. The challenge has taken longer to complete but I have enjoyed every moment of my Walking challenge.
Yesterday I was joined on my walk by one of my Autism groups. We walked around a place called Christchurch Meadows, taking in the scenery while we walked in the sunshine. It was really nice to be doing one of my walks with some friends.
Today I finally finished my Walk for Autism challenge. I feel proud to be part of this wonderful cause over the last 5 years. I was joined by my mum on today's walk which was made even better as the sun was also out during our walk.
A bit of time after this challenge, I caught up with Simon to see how he did...
WHAT WAS THE CHARITY YOU FUNDRAISED FOR?
Walk for Autism
WHAT WAS THE CHALLENGE?
Walking 80'000 steps over 8 days (26th March-2nd April)
HOW DID YOU FIND THE CHALLENGE?
I spread my challenge out doing 1 walk each week as doing it over 8 days was too much for me
HOW MUCH DID YOU RAISE?
Β£215 raised
DO YOU THINK YOU WILL DO IT AGAIN?
Yes, I'll do the challenge again as I've done it for 5 or 6 years now
Thank you so much Simon for answering those couple of questions.
Please keep your eye put in the future for more posts with Simon.
